Hi, I’m Sarah.

I’m a mom of two, I have a dog, and I live in New England. I spend a lot of my time reading, writing, and figuring things out as I go. This site is one of those things.

I created Travel Turkey with Confidence because I know what it feels like to be interested in a place and completely unsure about it at the same time.

Why This Site Exists

Turkey was not always on my radar.

Then I fell in love with a Turkish man, which tends to change things.

Suddenly this country felt important to me in a very real way. I found myself wanting to understand it, not just visit it.

And I realized pretty quickly that there is a gap between travel inspiration and actual understanding.

There are beautiful photos. There are lists of things to do. But there is not always a clear, grounded explanation of what it feels like to navigate a place for the first time.

That is the gap I am trying to fill.

What You’ll Find Here

This is a space for people who want to feel a little more prepared before they go.

You will find:

  • practical guidance without overwhelm
  • context that helps things make sense
  • honest reflections from someone learning in real time

I am not trying to tell you everything. I am trying to help you feel oriented.

My Perspective

I am not a travel expert, and I am not writing from the perspective of someone who has spent years moving through Turkey.

I am writing as someone who is paying attention.

Someone who asks a lot of questions. Someone who wants to understand the why behind things. Someone who knows what it feels like to be new to a place and wants that experience to feel a little less intimidating.

If you are a first-time traveler, or someone who likes to understand a place before stepping into it, you are in the right place.

Traveling somewhere new can feel like a lot.

But understanding even a little bit more can change the entire experience.

That is what I am building here.
